JOHN BRITTAS: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether Government maintains any centralized data on houses or other structures demolished by States on various grounds such as violation of building laws, encroachment, trespass, or occupation of public property during the last five years; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Government has taken note of the recent demolition actions reported in at Kogilu's Waseem Layout and Fakir Colony in Bengaluru; (d) if so, the response thereto; (e) whether any advisories or guidelines have been issued to States to ensure due process, notice, rehabilitation, and protection of housing rights prior to undertaking such demolitions; and (f) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a) to (f): As per entry 5 and 18 of List II - State List of the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India, ‘Local Government’, ‘Land’ and ‘Colonization’ are State subjects. Data regarding demolition of houses or other structures by States is not maintained by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. *****
