Parliament Question: Defence Land in Adilabad

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF DEFENCE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 5725 TO BE ANSWERED ON 27th March, 2026 DEFENCE LAND IN ADILABAD 5725. SHRI GODAM NAGESH: Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state: (a) whether any defence land is available in the Adilabad Parliamentary Constituency in the State of Telangana which can be considered for development of a civil airport; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether the Government has received any proposal from the State Government or concerned authorities to utilise such land for development of an airport and if so, the details thereof; (d) whether the Government has examined the feasibility of permitting the use of such defence land for establishment of a new airport under civil aviation initiatives; and (e) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard? A N S W E R MINISTER OF STATE (SHRI SANJAY SETH) IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE (a) & (b) Defence land measuring 369.45 acres, located in Khanapur and Adilabad villages of Adilabad District, falls within the Adilabad Lok Sabha Constituency in Telangana. The said land is currently under the management of the Indian Air Force and is earmarked for utilization to meet future Air Force requirements. (c) to (e) No proposal has been received on the NOC portal of the Ministry of Defence from either the Ministry of Civil Aviation or the State Government of Telangana seeking transfer of the said defence land for development of a civil airport. *****
