(a) the plan of the Government for expansion of the Bharatmala Pariyojana in
the country especially in Maharashtra;
(b) the details of National Highways constructed/included under Bharatmala
Pariyojana in Maharashtra during the last five years, district-wise;
(c) the total length of National Highways constructed in Maharashtra under
the Bharatmala Pariyojana during the last two years especially in Parbhani
Parliamentary Constituency;
(d) the number of projects delayed due to land acquisition or environmental
clearances in Maharashtra;
(e) whether the Government proposes to construct a new Expressway
Corridor keeping in view of the increasing traffic pressure on the Mumbai-Pune
route, if so, the details thereof; and
(f) whether Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is being used to strengthen
highway safety infrastructure of the country and if so, the details of steps
taken in this regard and the basis thereof?

(a) & (e) Government keeps on receiving/ undertaking/ preparing Detailed
Project Report (DPR)/proposal for widening/development of NHs in the country.
Decision for project implementation and investment is taken based on theoutcome of DPR, requirement of connectivity, traffic density, synergy with PM
Gati Shakti National Master Plan etc.
(b) The details of various project under Bharatmala Pariyojana in the State of
Maharashtra executed through NHAI is annexed.
(c) 564 km length is constructed by NHAI in Maharashtra under Bharatmala
Pariyojana during the last two years.
(d) In the State of Maharashtra, 66 projects including 15 projects under
Bharatmala Pariyojana are delayed beyond their original completion schedule
as per contract.
(f) Yes Sir. The key objective of implementing Intelligent Transportation
System (ITS) or Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) on National
Highways and Expressways is to enhance road safety, reduce traffic
violations, and improve incident response time through AI-based surveillance
and automated enforcement mechanisms.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued Policy Circular
No. 11.53 on 10.10.23 to implement the Advanced Traffic Management System
(ATMS) on National Highways and Expressways. The Policy includes
Surveillance of the entire Highway stretch and AI based Video Incident
Detection and Enforcement System which will also facilitate generation of E-
challans by Police and other Enforcement Agencies. The Policy document aims
to reduce accidents, traffic violations and incident response time. The
Government envisages to implement the ATMS solution in Highways and
