Parliament Question: Expansion of Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridors

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4035 ANSWERED ON 30/03/2026 EXPANSION OF NAMO BHARAT (RRTS) CORRIDORS 4035. SHRI KARTIKEYA SHARMA: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the current status of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the proposed expansion of the Namo Bharat (RRTS) corridors to Karnal and Alwar respectively; (b) the specific timeline proposed for the final submission of these DRPs for approval of the cabinet during the current fiscal year; (c) the estimated commencement date for these corridors; and (d) the fiscal allocations earmarked for preliminary infrastructure development and land acquisition for these specific regional rapid transit extensions? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a) to (d): National Capital Region Transport Corporation Ltd. (NCRTC) has submitted the revised Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors from Delhi to Karnal and Delhi to Bawal in April, 2025 and September, 2025, respectively. The Namo Bharat RRTS projects are cost intensive proposals and therefore, undergo intensive examination at different levels in Central Government. After such examination, Central Government considers financial assistance to RRTS projects, based on feasibility of the proposal and availability of resources. No timeframe can be set for approval of such proposals. *****
