MEDHA VISHRAM KULKARNI: Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the current status of India’s metro rail network along with the details of total operational length and the cities covered as of December, 2025; (b) the details of metro projects inaugurated in 2025, along with the Bengaluru Yellow Line, Mumbai Metro Line 3 and Bhopal Metro Orange Line; (c) the details of metro expansion projects approved in 2025, including Delhi Metro Phase V(A) and Pune Metro Phase 2, along with their estimated costs and timelines; and (d) the details of increase in the number of passenger resulting from metro expansion and its contribution to urban mobility and decarbonization? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS (SHRI TOKHAN SAHU) (a) At present, about 1096 km of metro rail network including RRTS is operational in 26 cities across the country. (b) The details of Metro Rail Projects inaugurated in 2025 are as per Annexure – I. (c) The details of Metro Rail Project approved in 2025 are as per Annexure – II. (d) The daily average ridership of metro has increased from 28 lakh in 2013-14 to 1.15 crore per day in 2025-26.
