Funding and Facilities under Khelo India
5862. SHRI THARANIVENTHAN M S:
Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of Khelo India Centres (KIS) sanctioned, established
and currently functioning across the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) the details of such Centres sanctioned in Tamil Nadu, including the
districts covered, the status of implementation and the sports
disciplines approved;
(c) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised for such Centres
during the last five years and the current year, State/UT-wise,
particularly for Tamil Nadu;
(d) whether the Government proposes to sanction additional such
Centres in underserved districts, rural areas and educationally backward
regions of Tamil Nadu; and
(e) whether any steps taken/being taken by the Government to ensure
availability of qualified coaches, modern equipment, sports science
support and infrastructure maintenance at the said Centres and if so, the
details thereof?

(a) and (b) The district-wise number of approved and operational Khelo
India Centres (KIC) along with their sports disciplines, across the
country, including in the State of Tamil Nadu, are available in the public

https://dashboard.kheloindia.gov.in.
(c) Funds are allocated Scheme-wise and not State/UT-wise or
component-wise under the Khelo India Scheme in this Ministry. The
details of funds allocated and expenditure incurred under Khelo India
Scheme, during the last five years and the current year across the
country, including in the State of Tamil Nadu, are as under:

(d) At least one KIC has been established in each district of Tamil
Nadu under the Khelo India Scheme, thereby covering all districts as per
the scheme's provision of one centre per district.
(e) To ensure effective functioning of KIC, the Government provides
support for engagement of qualified Past Champion Athletes as coaches,
procurement of sports equipment, and conduct of training activities.
Further, capacity building of coaches is undertaken through Sports
Authority of India and other recognised institutions. States/UTs are
responsible for providing and maintaining basic infrastructure at the
identified Centres, while sports science and allied support are extended
through existing sports ecosystem and convergence with other
components of the Khelo India Scheme.
