On February 5th, 2026, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways addressed Unstarred Question No. 973 from Shri Anurag Sharma regarding the Greenfield National Highway Project in Jhansi. The question pertained to a proposed 15.572-kilometer highway project in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh, connecting NH-39 and NH-44 Jhansi Lalitpur section, including bypasses, flyovers, underpasses, and bridges. The query also asked about the project's approval status, its potential to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety, and boost economic development, the completion status of technical and financial appraisals, and the government's timeline for project approval and construction commencement.
Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, responded that the work for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been awarded, and the alignment was approved on June 26th, 2025. The project is currently in the DPR stage, making it premature to specify the number of flyovers, underpasses, and bridges. Project approval is contingent upon the DPR findings, traffic density, and synergy with the PM GatiShakti Master Plan.
