ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) The development of National Highways, including Greenfield corridors, is undertaken in a planned and phased manner to improve connectivity across all regions of the country, including tribal-dominated and aspirational districts. Significant efforts have been made in recent years to enhance connectivity in such areas, and the most tribal and aspirational districts have been connected or are being connected to the high-speed corridor network under various programmes such as Bharatmala Pariyojana and National Highway (Original) NH(O) works. Some of the prominent Greenfield/high-speed corridors traversing tribal- dominated and aspirational districts include: Durg–Raipur–Arang; Raipur– Visakhapatnam; Raipur–Ranchi; Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata; Delhi–Mumbai Expressway; Nashik–Solapur; Kadapa–Tirupati; and Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway. (b) The details are annexed. (c) The Government envisages development of Wayside Amenities (WSAs) at intervals of approximately 40–60 km along National Highways and Expressways, subject to land availability and commercial viability. These WSAs provide facilities such as eateries, toilets, drinking water, parking, fuel stations, Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, and short-term accommodation for road users, including truckers.
