IMPLEMENTATION OF PARVATMALA PARIYOJANA IN TELANGANA

Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS

be pleased to state:
(a) the objectives, scope and implementation framework of the
Parvatmala Pariyojana for development of ropeway infrastructure in
the country;
(b) the details of ropeway projects identified, approved and under
implementation across the country, State-wise along with their
present status and timelines;
(c) whether the locations in Telangana have been identified or
proposed under the Parvatmala Pariyojana and if so, the details
thereof including the present status; and
(d) the process and criteria followed for selection, approval and
execution of ropeway projects under the scheme and the expected
timeline for inclusion and completion of future projects?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS
(SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) The National Ropeways Development Programme, namely
Parvatmala Pariyojana, was announced by the Government in Union
Budget 2022-23 with an aim to develop alternative mobility systems
across the country to improve connectivity and convenience for
commuters in hilly regions and to decongest urban areas where
conventional transport is not feasible, while promoting safe,
sustainable and efficient last-mile connectivity and boosting tourism.
(b) The details are enclosed at Annexure.
(c) & (d) Government of Telangana has requested for the sanction of
three ropeway projects at the pilgrim/tourist locations in Telangana.
Execution of the ropeway projects is carried out by National Highways
Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) in partnership with the
concerned State/UT Government through the signing of a Ropeways
Development Agreement (RDA). Timelines for inclusion and completion
of projects are project-specific and depend upon the readiness of
proposals, statutory clearances and other associated factors. The
NHLML has initiated the process for the appointment of consultant for
the preparation of Detailed Project Report for three projects.
The investment decision and implementation of the ropeways projects
are prioritised based on technical feasibility, socio-economic benefits,
fulfilment of the criteria, the requirement for connectivity, and
financial viability.ANNEXURE
