Infrastructure Development and Modernisation of Sports Facilities
2659. SHRI CAPTAIN BRIJESH CHOWTA:
Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) whether any proposal has been received or is under consideration
for establishing a Sports Authority of India Training Centre, Regional
Centre, or sports science facility in Dakshina Kannada district of
Karnataka; and
(b) if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF YOUTH AFFAIRS & SPORTS
[DR. MANSUKH MANDAVIYA]
(a) & (b): “Sports” being a State subject, the responsibility for
promotion and development of sports in the States/UTs rests with the
respective State/UT Governments. Further, no new proposal has been
received, nor is any proposal currently under consideration, for
setting up a Sports Authority of India Training Centre, Regional
Centre, or Sports Science Facility in Dakshina Kannada district of
Karnataka.
