Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that Bandodkar Stadium,
located in Daman district of Daman and Diu earlier used as a
playground for children, has been converted into a 'Luxury Daman
Club' and handed over to a private company for profit;
(b) if so, the reasons therefor;
(c) the total funds spent for the construction of the said club and the
objective behind its establishment;
(d) the annual revenue generated by the Government from this Daman
Club and the membership fee charged for becoming a member of the
club; and
(e) the details of the contract-related all documents pertaining to the
said club?

(a) & (b): ‘Sports’ being a State subject, the primary responsibility for
promotion and development of sports, including provision of financial
support to aspiring sportspersons and local sports clubs, rests with
the respective State/Union Territory Governments. Further, the said
Bandodkar Stadium situated in Daman is not under the purview of this
Ministry. However, as informed by Ministry of Home Affairs, the said

‘The Daman Club’ by the Planning and Development Authority (PDA),
Daman and not by any private agency.
(c) to (e): The total funds spent by the Daman Municipal Council
(DMC) for the development/renovation of the club premises amount to
₹ 10.17 crore. The main objective in establishing the club was to
provide enhanced sports, fitness, and recreational facilities for
residents and tourists.
Further, the overall revenue generated by the Daman Club since
the start of operation (past 2 years) is ₹4.69 crores. The membership
fee structure (excluding GST) is as follows:
Life Member - ₹10,00,000.
Life Institutional Member - ₹15,00,000
Institutional Member - ₹1,20,000 per annum .
Sports Member - ₹1,200 per annum
Service Member - ₹6,000 per annum
Temporary Member - ₹24,000 per annum.
