SHRI BAJRANG MANOHAR SONWANE: Will the MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the details regarding the current status, maintenance and expansion of National Highways (NHs) i.e., NH-448C and NH-448D in Beed district; (b) the efforts being made to ensure smooth traffic, road safety and pothole-free stretches on these highways; (c) the total budget sanctioned for construction, repair and widening works of NH-448C and NH-448D and the present status of these works; (d) the details of the projects formulated for construction of structures such as bridges, underpasses or overbridges on these highways and the progress made thereunder; and (e) the measures taken by the Government to ensure timely completion of road improvement and maintenance works to safeguard citizens and maintain smooth traffic? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (c) NH-548C and NH-548D pass through Beed district in the State of Maharashtra instead of NH-448C and NH-448D. The Government has sanctioned 7 projects amounting to Rs. 2793.65 crores for rehabilitation and upgradation of these National Highways (NHs) to two-lanes with pavedshoulders NH standards. The details of current status of maintenance and expansion on NH-548C and NH-548D in Beed district in Maharashtra are as under: NH NH section Length Sanctioned Current Status (in km) Cost (Rs. in Crores) NH- Partur to 50.478 420.57 Upgradation to two-lane 548C Majalgaon with paved shoulders NH- Majalgaon to 57.518 413.99 completed. Under Defects 548C Kaij Liability Period (DLP). The maintenance of this NH stretch is done by the existing Contractor. NH- Manjursumba to 32.172 228.54 548D Chumbaliphata Total 351.604 2793.65 (d) The requirement of construction of bridges/flyovers/over bridges/ underpasses is assessed on case to case basis as per traffic requirements, condition of bridges including their functional and other requirements, available Right of Way (RoW), congestion in urban/built-up sections, road safety considerations, etc. at the time preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and provisioned in the approved DPRs of NH works either as part of the NH Corridor or on standalone basis. Total 117 bridges/flyovers/ over bridges/underpasses have been constructed on these NHs.(e) There have been delays in completion of some NH projects due to existing ROW disputes, delays in land acquisition, forest as well as wildlife clearances, delays in utility shifting and other pre-construction activities as well as cash flow issues with some of the Contractors and COVID-19 lockdown. All the pending issues of land acquisition, forest clearances and utility shifting have been substantially resolved in close co-ordination with the State Government and the balance works are under implementation with revised target for completion on 30.04.2026. *****
