Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:
(a) the present number of operational district Nehru Yuva Kendras
(NYKs) in Maharashtra including the details of sanctioned, filled and
vacant posts, district-wise;
(b) the number and outcomes of the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament and
Youth Festival programmes organized in Maharashtra from 2022-23 till
now, including details of participation from aspirational and tribal
districts; and
(c) whether the Government proposes to extend the reach of NYKs in
deprived blocks and semi-urban/slum areas in Maharashtra and if so, the
details of the timeline and targets set for the same?

(a) At present, there are 34 MY Bharat Kendras (formerly known as Nehru
Yuva Kendras) in the State of Maharashtra. The details of sanctioned,
filled and vacant posts, district-wise in MY Bharat Kendras operational
in the state of Maharashtra is placed at Annexure-1.
(b) The number of the Neighbourhood Youth Parliament (NYP) and Youth
Festival programmes organized in Maharashtra including aspirational
and tribal districts from 2022-23 till now is as follows:

*The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated the 27th National
Youth Festival at Nashik, Maharashtra during 2023-24. While addressing
a large gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted the central role of Yuva
Shakti in nation-building during the Amrit Kaal. He urged young Indians
to lead India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047
through duty, innovation, and democratic participation. The different
programmes organised under National Youth Festival witnessed
participation of approximately 7,500 youth and officials from various
States and Union Territories. Additionally, the festival venues recorded
an average daily footfall of around 10,000 visitors, indicative of wide
public engagement.
Page 2 of 4The Neighbourhood Youth Parliament resulted in enhanced youth
engagement by providing a structured platform for young people to
articulate their views on social, economic, and governance-related
issues and to bring local concerns to the attention of the administration.
It improved youth awareness and understanding of contemporary socio-
economic development issues at local and global levels through debates
and discussions. The initiative encouraged active participation in
democratic processes by fostering dialogue, critical thinking, and civic
engagement. It also enabled interaction with public representatives,
PRIs, development partners, service providers, village communities, and
local administration, while strengthening communication, leadership,
and public-speaking skills among participating youth.
The Youth Festival, now reimagined as Viksit Bharat Young Leaders
Dialogue (VBYLD), achieved outcomes in terms of increased youth
engagement by offering a national platform for interaction and
participation through youth conventions, cultural and literary
competitions, Suvichaar sessions, Yuva Kriti (youth exhibition), food
festivals, youth expo, and adventure activities. Collectively, these
activities contributed to the development of leadership qualities,
creativity, cultural exchange, and greater awareness among youth on
national development–related issues.
(c) At present, there is no such proposal under consideration.
