In response to Unstarred Question No. 2274, answered on February 12th, 2026, regarding the Palampur-Chunja Glacier Ropeway Project, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways (Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari) stated the following:
(a) The development of transportation infrastructure, including ropeways, is a continuous process. The Government receives proposals from various State Governments, including Himachal Pradesh. Decisions are based on the outcome of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), fulfilment of the criteria and requirement of connectivity.
(b) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on April 26, 2022, between National Highways Logistics Management Limited (a 100% owned company of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)) and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC) for development of ropeway projects under Parvatmala Pariyojana in partnership with the State Government of Himachal Pradesh.

Glacier Ropeway Project in Kangra district, if so, the details thereof;
and
(b) whether any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been
signed between the Rapid Transport System Development
Corporation and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in
respect of the said project and if so, the details thereof?
