ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF STATISTICS AND PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION; MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF PLANNING AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE (RAO INDERJIT SINGH) (a) The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme was launched by the Government of India in across 14 key sectors with an overall approved outlay of about ₹1.97 lakh crore, with the objective of strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem, enhancing exports, and making the Page 1 of 3country a global manufacturing hub. The 14 sectors covered under the PLI Scheme are as follows: i. Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing ii. IT Hardware iii. Telecom and Networking Products iv. Pharmaceuticals Drugs v. Medical Devices vi. Critical Key Starting Materials/ Drug Intermediaries and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients vii. Automobiles and Auto Components viii. Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery ix. Textile Products: MMF segment and Technical Textiles x. Food Products xi. High Efficiency Solar PV Modules xii. White Goods (ACs and LED) xiii. Specialty Steel xiv. Drones and Drone Components (b) & (c) The PLI Scheme is designed as sector-specific, pan-India initiatives, and incentives are linked to incremental production/sales and performance of eligible companies rather than being State-specific. The scheme has led to significant investments, production, and employment generation across multiple States/UTs. As on 31.12.2025, the PLI Scheme has led to investment of over ₹2.16 lakh crore, incremental production/sales exceeding ₹20.41 lakh crore, and generation of over 8.49 lakh employment opportunities, with cumulative incentive disbursement of ₹28,748 crore.
