Parliament Question: Status of National Highway Projects in Daman

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 6306 ANSWERED ON 02nd APRIL, 2026 STATUS OF NATIONAL HIGHWAY PROJECTS IN DAMAN †6306. SHRI PATEL UMESHBHAI BABUBHAI: Will the MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the current status of the National Highway in Daman intended to connect Vadchowki in Nani Daman to Ambawadi in Moti Daman; (b) whether this section remains incomplete due to the absence of a bridge over the Daman Ganga river to link Nani Daman with Moti Daman and if so, the reasons therefor; (c) whether any study or report is available with the Government regarding traffic congestion, pollution and delays in emergency services caused by heavy vehicles passing through the city area in the absence of the said bridge and if so, the details thereof; (d) whether a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared for the construction of the said bridge and if so, the details of its current status; and (e) the estimated timeframe for the Government to grant approval to this project and the details of the funds proposed/allocated for the same? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (e) Based on the present traffic requirements, upgradation of National Highway (NH) – 848B in the Union Territory (UT) of Daman to four-lanes withpaved shoulders is substantially complete with targeted date for completion in June, 2026. At present, no proposal for construction of bridge from Vadchowki in Nani Daman to Ambavadi in Moti Daman is under consideration. However, as a long-term solution to present traffic requirements, the UT Administration has awarded the project for constructing an iconic sea link bridge connecting Ramsetu Path (Moti Daman) to Namo Path (Nani Daman) through its own resources. *****
