(b) The objective of State Support Mission (SSM) is to strengthen and institutionalize the on-going engagement of NITI Aayog with States and Union Territories (UTs) to advance cooperative federalism. Under the Mission, financial and technical support is provided to the States/UTs for establishing State Institutions for Transformation (SITs) or strengthening existing State Planning Departments/Boards as multidisciplinary resource centres that can act as a multi-disciplinary resource center to steer the development strategies in the States/UTs. The Mission has achieved different milestones. 32 States/UTs have been onboarded under the SSM for establishing SITs or strengthening their existing State Planning Departments/Boards. 24 States/UTs have nominated knowledge institutions such as Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), Central and State Universities etc., Further 55 workshops have been organized in collaboration with State/UT Governments, Ministries and Departments of the Government of India, and other stakeholders. It also supported 30 States/UTs in strengthening their Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) systems. A knowledge platform (NITI for States) has been launched for cross learning and sharing best practices among States/UTs, which provide a single point of access to best practices, policies, datasets, and other knowledge products to facilitate the States/UTs., (c) The details are appended at Annexure I.
