STATUS OF TRANSFER OF BSP LAND TO STATE GOVERNMENT
2937. SHRI VIJAY BAGHEL:
Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state:
Will the Ministry of Steel be pleased to refer to Lok Sabha Question No.1755 dated 10-
02- 2026 regarding Transfer of BSP land to the State Government and to state:
(a) whether the necessary process for transfer of title of 290.26 acres and 151.46 acres
of land to the State Government by SAIL/BSP has been completed through the MoU
and the basic facilities in the labour settlement are being provided to them;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the absence of transfer of BSP land to the State Government, the public is
not getting the benefit of the ambitions schemes run by the Government, such as lease
distribution, Prime Minister’s Housing, basic facilities etc., and request has been made
for many years and the said request is pending till date causing resentment in the area;
and
(d) the time by which the entire labour settlement area likely to be transferred to Newai
Basti, Maroda?
ANSWER

MINISTRY OF STEEL
(a)to(d): Steel Authority of India Limited/Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL/BSP) has handed
over land parcel comprising 290.26 acres of land (located at Village Ruabandha,
Maroda, Joratarai, Purena, Chhaoni and Khursipara) and 151.46 acres of land at
village Newai (Mouhari Baghicha, Station Maroda, Newai (HSCL Colony), Newai Old
Basti and Newai Bhata) land parcel to State Government of Chhattisgarh.
As per the MoUs signed between SAIL/BSP and State Government of
Chhattisgarh, the basic civic amenities like roads, drinking water, electricity and
community toilets under the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) jurisdiction including Nevai Basti,
Maroda, Tehsil and District Durg are to be provided by the Local Authority/State
Government.
All necessary formalities have been completed from SAIL/BSP side in respect
of the land identified under the MoUs.
