STRATEGIES TOWARDS SDG
4289. SHRI KALYAN BANERJEE:
Will the Minister of PLANNING be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has taken strategies towards
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the 2025–30 approach which
involves creating State Institutions for Transformation (SITs) and
strengthening State Science and Technology Councils;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the focus area and plans for
development of health, infrastructure and rural development, State-
wise; and
(c) the details of strategic plan for New India @75 with detailed
exposition of forty-one crucial areas particularly in West Bengal?

Page 1 of 2(a) & (b) In order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
Government of India has undertaken several key initiatives through
flagship schemes and programs which, inter alia, include Mahatma
Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS),
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), PM Awas Yojana (PMAY),
Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (Ayushman Bharat), Saksham
Anganwadi and POSHAN Abhiyan 2.0, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna
Yojana (PMGKAY), PM Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), MUDRA
Yojana, SAUBHAGYA scheme, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission
(JJM), Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Employment Generation Programme
(PMEGP), Skill India, Digital India, Smart Cities Mission, Mission
Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE), Aspirational Districts and Block
Programme, Start-Up India, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban
Transformation (AMRUT). Under the State Support Mission, State
Institutions for Transformation (SITs) were established for long-term
visioning, evidence-based policy formulation and outcome-focused
governance. NITI Aayog has developed a Roadmap for Strengthening
State Science and Technology Councils which suggests steps towards
structural reforms, capacity building and enhanced collaboration of
State S&T Councils which can help in accelerating the Science,
Technology and Innovation (STI) ecosystem in States. Government of
India provides support to States/UTs in developing the sub- national
level monitoring frameworks, which helps them to track the SDGs.
(c) Government has prepared a national development strategy
document titled ‘Strategy for New India @75’, which outlines policy
priorities across forty-one key areas covering sectors such as
agriculture, industry, infrastructure, education, health, financial
inclusion, governance and environment for the entire country. The
