Parliament Question: UMEED Portal

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO-1828 ANSWERED ON 29.07.2026 UMEED PORTAL 1828. SHRI BENNY BEHANAN Will the Minister of MINORITY AFFAIRS be pleased to state:- (a) the details of the number of Waqf properties uploaded on the UMEED portal since its launch including the number verified, pending verification and rejected, State/UT-wise; (b) the details of the number of Waqf property registrations cancelled/annulled on the UMEED portal till date, State/UT-wise; (c) whether penalties are being collected for delayed registration of Waqf properties on the UMEED portal and if so, the details of the total amount collected till date, month and State/UT- wise; and (d) the steps taken by the Government to ensure that non-standard land measurements of Waqf properties do not lead to rejection, cancellation or exclusion of Waqf properties from the portal? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF MINORITY AFFAIRS (SHRI KIREN RIJIJU) (a) to (b) As on 27.07.2026, total 7,98,792 waqf properties have been initiated for uploading on the UMEED Central Portal–2025. Out of these, 6,17,376 waqf properties have been validated and approved by the approver, 91,081 number of waqf properties are at various stages of uploading while 90,335 properties have been rejected or returned for correction during verification. (c) As per Section 3-B (1) of the UMEED Act, 1995, every waqf registered under this Act, prior to the commencement of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 has to file the details of the waqf and the property dedicated to the waqf on the portal, within a period of six months, with a provision of further extension of up to six months by the Waqf Tribunal based on sufficient cause being shown by the mutawalli. Thus, as per statutory remedy available under the Act, further extensions have been granted to those State/UT Waqf Boards that have been sought such extension by the concerned Hon’ble Waqf Tribunals/ High Courts after expiry of initial six months period for uploading details of waqf properties data on the portal.(d) The UMEED Central Portal-2025 works on three-tier mechanism of Maker–Checker– Approver protocol. The details entered by the Maker (a mutawalli or the person who manages the waqf) is checked by the Checker (a person nominated by the Waqf Board) and further approved by the Approver (the CEO of the concerned Waqf Board) with mandatory declaration at each stage certifying the correctness of the information and particulars of the waqf as per Rules 6 of the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Rules, 2025. Thus, there are enough provisions in place for uploading the details of bonafide waqf properties on the portal. *****
