UTILIZATION OF FUNDS UNDER SMART CITIES MISSION
169* DR. V. SIVADASAN:
Will the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs be pleased to state:
(a) the total amount of funds allocated by the Central Government under the Smart Cities Mission
(SCM) since its inception, year-wise;
(b) the amount of funds, if any, that have remained unutilised or lapsed under the Mission, year-
wise, along with the reasons therefor;
(c) the total number of cities selected under the SCM and the names of such cities, State/UT-
wise; and
(d) the number of Smart Cities in which projects have been fully completed, the number of cities
where projects are near completion and the number of cities where projects are still pending?

REGARDING UTILIZATION OF FUNDS UNDER SMART CITIES MISSION
(a) to (d) Under Smart Cities Mission (SCM), out of Central Government’s allocation of
₹48,000 Cr, the 100 cities selected under the mission have been able to claim central financial
assistance of ₹47,458 crore (i.e. 99% of the total Central share allocation for cities). As reported by
the States/ UTs, as on 01.03.2026, amount of ₹46,326 Cr has been utilized (i.e. 97% of the total
Central Share released for cities).
As reported by the States/ UTs as on 01.03.2026, in the 100 cities selected under SCM, out of a
total 8064 projects amounting to ₹ 1,64,811 Cr, 7,784 projects (97% of total projects) amounting to
₹1,56,159 Cr have been completed and the remaining 280 projects amounting to ₹8,652 Cr at
implementation stage in 68 cities. Among the 68 cities where projects are at the implementation
stage, 59 cities have achieved more than 80% financial progress, while 6 cities have achieved
financial progress between 50 % to 80%. In the remaining 3 cities, financial progress is below
50%. Additionally, 32 cities have completed all their projects.
State/UT-wise Central Financial Assistance claimed & utilized by 100 Smart Cities and status of
projects since inception of the Mission is at Annexure.
