Constitution.- The Service shall consist of the following categories, namely:- Category 1 Assistant Director of Museums (Technical). Tests.- Every person appointed as Assistant Director (Administration) of Museums shall, within the period of his probation, pass the Account Test for Executive officers or Account Test Part – II. Qualifications.- (a) Age.- No person shall be eligible for appointment by direct recruitment to a category if he has completed or will complete thirty two years of age on the first day of July of the year in which the notification for recruitment is made. (b) Other qualifications.- No person shall be eligible for appointment to the category in column (1) by the method specified in column (2) in the following table unless he possesses the qualifications specified in the corresponding entries in column (3) thereof:- Table Method of Category Qualification appointment (1) (2) (3) 1. In the case of Curator attached to Anthropology Section, must possess a M.A., Anthropology or M.Sc., degree in Zoology; iv. In the case of Curator attached to Archaeology Section, must possess M.A. Historical Studies / History / Applied History / History (General & Vocational Archaeology and Musiology / History and Tourism); v. In the case of Curator attached to Numismatic Section, must possess a M.A. degree in History and knowledge of Indian Numismatics will be given preference; vi. In the case of Curator attached to Chemical Conservation Section, must possess the M.Sc., degree in Chemistry preference will be given to candidates with M.A., Conservation; vii. In the case of Curator attached to Geology Section, must possess a M.Sc., degree in Geology or M.Sc., Applied Geology / M.Sc., Geography; viii. In the case of Curator attached to Design and Display Section, must possess a Master degree in Architecture or Master degree in interior design; ix. In the case of Curator attached to Outreach (Formerly Education Officer), must possess M.Sc., & M.A., degree in any one of the following subject Zoology, Botany, Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Sanskrit, History or Chemistry; x. In the case of Curator attached to National Art Gallery (Gallery of Contemporary Art), must possess a M.A. degree in History; xi. In the case of Curator attached to Children’s Museum, must possess a M.Sc., degree in Physics or Chemistry or M.A. degree in History; xii. Assistant Direct (i) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Archaeology Section, must Curator Recruitment possess a B.A., degree in Ancient Indian History or B.A., degree in Ancient History with Archaeology; (ii) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Anthropology Section, must possess a B.A., degree Anthropology / B.A., History. Preference will be given to candidates with degree or Diploma in Anthropology; (iii) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Zoology Section, must possess a B.Sc., degree in Zoology with Botany and Chemistry as subsidiary subject or B.Sc., degree in Advanced Zoology & Bio-Technology; (iv) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Botany Section, must possess B.Sc. degree in Botany or B.Sc., degree in Plant Biology / Micro Biology with Zoology and Chemistry as subsidiary subject or B.Sc., in Plant Biology; (v) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to National Art Gallery Section, must possess a degree in B.A., Fine Arts / B.A. History; (vi) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Numismatics Section, must possess a degree of B.A. in Ancient History / B.A., in Archaeology; (vii) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Natural Science, Children Museum Section, must possess a degree of B.Sc. in Zoology / Botany / Geology/ Physics; (viii) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Chemistry Section, must possess a degree of B.Sc., Chemistry; (ix) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Geology Section, must possess a degree of B.Sc., Geology; (x) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Outreach Section, must possess any Bachelor Degree in Art or Science; (xi) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Design and Display Section must possess any Bachelor Degree in Architecture or Bachelor Degree in Interior Design; (xii) In the case of Assistant Curator attached to Government Museum in Districts must possess a B.Sc., & B.A., degree in any one of the following subjects Zoology, Botany, Physics, Geology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Sanskrit, History or Chemistry; 3. Assistant Promotion (i) Must have worked as Technical Assistant (Taxidermy) for a period of Curator not less than two years; (Taxidermy) (ii) Must have undergone the Taxidermy training conducted by the Government Museum, Chennai; (iii) Must have passed the test conducted by the Zoology section of the Government Museum, Chennai for the skill in preparing Wax moulds and plaster casting of Specimens; 4. Technical Direct Recruitment Must possess a B.Sc. degree in Zoology; Assistant (Taxidermy) 6. Probation.- Every person appointed to a category otherwise than by promotion from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.32 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE [Part III—Sec. 1(b) 6A. Training.- Every person appointed to the category of Technical Assistant (Taxidermy) by direct recruitment shall undergo the Taxidermy training conducted by the Government Museum, Chennai within the period of his probation. 7. Unit for appointment, discharge, etc. : For the purpose of discharge, re-appointment of probationers and approved probationers and appointment as full members, every category of Curator or Assistant Curator for which qualification in a particular subject is prescribed in these rules shall be deemed to be a separate category.
