S.O. 2319(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 87 of the Punjab Reorganisation Act,
1966 (31 of 1966), the Central Government hereby extends to the Union territory of Chandigarh, the
provisions of the Court Fees Act, 1870 (7 of 1870), as amended by the Court Fees (Punjab Amendment) Act,
2016 (Punjab Act No. 8 of 2016), as in force in the State of Punjab on the date of publication of this
notification, subject to the following modifications in the Court Fees (Punjab Amendment) Act, 2016,
namely:—
MODIFICATIONS
1. In sub-section (1) of section 1, for the words, brackets and figures “the Court Fees (Punjab
Amendment) Act, 2016”, the words, brackets and figures “the Court Fees (Punjab Amendment)
Act, 2016 as extended to the Union territory of Chandigarh” shall be substituted.
2. In section 2, for the words and figures “In the Court Fees Act, 1870, in its application to the State
of Punjab”, the words and figures “In the Court Fees Act, 1870 in its application to the Union
territory of Chandigarh” shall be substituted.

Received the assent of the Governor of Punjab on the 25th day of April, 2016 and was published in the Punjab
Government Gazette, Extraordinary, dated April 28, 2016 (Vysk 8, 1938 Saka).

BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Sixty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as

1. (1) This Act may be called the Court Fees (Punjab Amendment) Act, 2016. Short title and
commencement
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by
notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. In the Court Fees Act, 1870, in its application to the State of Punjab, for
section 26, the following section shall be substituted, namely:-
“26. (1) The stamps used to denote any fee chargeable under this Substitution of
Act shall be impressed or adhesive or partly impressed section 26 of
Stamps to be and partly adhesive as the Appropriate Government Central Act 7 of
impressed or

(2) For the purposes of sub-section (1) and section 25, “stamp”

or any other machine, or a unique number generated by e-stamping or similar
software, as the appropriate Government may, by notification in the Official
Gazette, specify.”
