1. संि01 नाम और (cid:19)ारंभ.—(1) इन िनयम(cid:24) का संि01 नाम नाग(cid:14)रकता (नाग(cid:14)रक(cid:24) का रिज(cid:29)(cid:30)ीकरण और रा ीय पहचान प"(cid:24) का
जारी (cid:1)कया जाना) संशोधन िनयम, 2018 ह ै।
(2) ये राजप" म4 (cid:19)काशन क(cid:17) तारीख को (cid:19)वृ(cid:20) ह(cid:24)गे ।
2. नाग(cid:14)रकता (नाग(cid:14)रक(cid:24) का रिज(cid:29)(cid:30)ीकरण और रा ीय पहचान प"(cid:24) का जारी (cid:1)कया जाना) िनयम, 2003 क(cid:17) अनुसूची के पैरा 6 म4—
(i) उपपैरा (1) क(cid:17) दीघ, पंि(cid:23) म4, ''ऐसे (cid:19)काशन क(cid:17) तारीख से तीस (cid:1)दन क(cid:17) अविध के भीतर नाग(cid:14)रक रिज(cid:29)(cid:30)ीकरण के (cid:29)थानीय
रिज(cid:29)(cid:30)ार के सम0 (cid:19)(cid:29)तुत करेगा'' शBद(cid:24) के (cid:29)थान पर िन$िलिखत रखा जाएगा, अथा,त्:--
''भारतीय नाग(cid:14)रको के रा ीय रिज(cid:29)टर के (cid:19)ाEप के (cid:19)काशन क(cid:17) तारीख से तीस (cid:1)दन क(cid:17) समाि1 के पFात् तीस (cid:1)दन क(cid:17) अविध के

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 30th July, 2018
G.S.R. 722(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) and (3) of the section 18 of the Citizenship
Act, 1955 (57 of 1955), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to amend the Citizenship (Registration of
Citizens and Issue of National identity Cards) Rules, 2003, namely:—
1. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue
of National Identity Cards) Amendment Rules, 2018.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003, in the Schedule, in
paragraph 6—
(i) in sub-paragraph (1), in the long line, for the words “within a period of thirty days from the date of such
publication, before the Local Registrar of Citizen Registration.”, the following shall be substituted,
namely:—
“within a period of thirty days after the expiry of thirty days from the date of publication of the draft
National Register of Indian Citizens, before the Local Registrar of Citizen Registration:
Provided that the Registrar General of Citizen Registration with the approval of the Central Government
may extend the period of thirty days for receipt of claims and objections from the public, for a further
period of a maximum of thirty days, if he is of the opinion that the period of thirty days is not sufficient
for submitting the claims or objections, as the case may be,”;
(ii) for sub-paragraph (3), the following sub-paragraph shall be substituted, namely:—
“(3) The Local Registrar of Citizen Registration shall, give a notice to every person, who has filed his
claim or objection under sub-paragraph (1), to file documents, if any, in support of his claim or objection
and after giving the reasonable opportunity of hearing the applicant or the objector, as the case may be, the
District Registrar of Citizen Registration shall dispose of the claim or objection, as the case may be.”.
