ORDER:
The Engineer-in-Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad in the
references 1st , 3rd , 5th & 7th read above has reported that the Subbareddy
Sagar project was constructed during the year 1969 across Kuntidevi vagu
near E.Gokavaram village of Prathipadu Mandal of East Godavari District
to irrigate ayacut of 9879 acres.
2. During August, 2010 there were heavy rains in the State resulting
large inflows into the reservoirs of Subbareddy Sagar Project. The Project
has surplussed about 800 cusecs on 30-8-2010. Whirling action was
observed near left head sluice and water started flowing through the barrel
of left sluice even though the shutters of the sluice were in closed
condition. It developed into a big scour eroding about 90% of the main
earth dam section, downstream wings and sluice barrel were also washed
away.
3. The Engineer-in-Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad has furnished
a detailed estimate for the work of “Permanent Restoration of damaged
earth bund Left head sluice with RCC, barrel, replacement of Mechanical
equipment and operation of foot bridge for operation of head sluice gates
of Subba Reddy Sagar Project” and requested the Government to accord
necessary administrative approval to the estimate for an amount of
Rs.3.39 crores, for the above works of Subba Reddy Sagar Project in E.
Gokavaram (V) limits of Prathipadu (M) of East Godavari District.4. In view of the circumstances, Government after careful examination
hereby accord administrative approval for an amount of Rs.3.39 Crores
(Rupees Three Crores and thirty nine Lakhs Only) towards “Permanent
Restoration of the damaged earth bund left head sluice with RCC barrel,
replacement of Mechanical equipment and restoration of foot bridge for
operation of head sluice gates of Subbareddy Sagar Project in E.
Gokavaram (V) limits of Prathipadu (M) in East Godavari District”.
5. The expenditure sanctioned at para ( 4 ) above shall be debited to
the following Head of Account:
“4701 Capital Outlay on Major & Medium Irrigation – SMJH-03 – MH - 206
Subbareddy Sagar Project – GH 11 Normal State Plan – SH-26 Dam &
Appurtenant works - 530 - Major Works - 531 Other Expenditure.”
6. The Engineer-in-Chief, Medium Irrigation, Hyderabad is requested
to take action accordingly.
7. This order issues with the concurrence of Fin (Expr.PW) Dept., vide
their U.O.No.34897/1066/A1/Expr.PW/11, Dt:11.01.2012.
