(a) to (g): The revised definition of MSMEs, based on the twin criteria of investment and turnover,
was adopted in 2020 and Notification S.O. 2119(E) dated 26.06.2020 was issued. To facilitate the
enterprises in line with Ease of doing Businesses, Udyam Registration Portal was launched for
registration of an enterprise on 01.07.2020. Udyam registration process is voluntary, fully online, free,
paperless and based on self-declaration. No documents or proof are required to be uploaded for
registering on Udyam Registration Portal. The process is fully automated and there is no human
intervention involved at the end of the Ministry.
The Udyam Registration is not a scheme. It is a free digital platform designed to facilitate a
simple and seamless registration process to MSMEs across the country. Hence, no state wise fund is
allocated for Udyam Registration Portal.: 2 :
Since inception on 01.07.2020 and as of 25.01.2026 total 7.55 crore MSMEs with a reported
employment of 33.34 crore have registered on Udyam Portal.
The sector wise details of MSMEs including in the state of Maharashtra, on Udyam Portal,
since the launch of Udyam Portal till 25.01.2026 are given at Annexure I.
The MSME classification framework provides for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises under
the MSME Development Act, 2006. As notified vide Gazette S.O. 1296(E) dated 20.03.2023, the
Informal Micro Enterprises registered on the Udyam Assist Platform are treated at par with Udyam
Registration for availing Priority Sector Lending benefits. Further, first-generation entrepreneurs,
including in rural and semi-urban areas, are supported through schemes such as PMEGP, Credit
Guarantee Scheme and other MSME facilitation programmes.
(h): As per the information received from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Mumbai,

to:

tools and to constantly upgrade their processes for achievement of high quality and high
productivity with the least effect on the environment
Develop an Ecosystem for ZED Manufacturing in MSMEs, for enhancing competitiveness and
enabling exports
Promote adoption of ZED practices and recognising the efforts of successful MSMEs
Encourage MSMEs to achieve higher ZED Certification levels through graded incentives
Increase public awareness on demanding Zero Defect and Zero Effect products through the
