FOREIGN NATIONALS INVOLVED IN DRUG TRAFFICKING
†2663. SHRI RAMVIR SINGH BIDHURI:
Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that a number of foreign nationals residing in the
National Capital are involved in the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs;
(b) whether foreign nationals, including those of Nigerian origin, have been
apprehended for drug trafficking in areas such as Khanpur Extension, Deoli,
Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli, Hauz Rani in South Delhi and Uttam Nagar and
adjoining areas in West Delhi;
(c) if so, the number of such persons apprehended by the police during the
last two years along with the details of the narcotic drugs seized from them
including their estimated value in the international market;
(d) whether it is a fact that many such foreign nationals are residing in rented
accommodation without due tenant verification by the landlords;
(e) if so, the action taken against such landlords; and
(f) whether the Government proposes to launch any special drive to identify
these foreign nationals residing in the National Capital?

(a), (b) and (c): As reported by Delhi Police, during the period from the year-2-

2024 to 2026 (up to 30.06.2026), 254 foreign nationals residing in the
National Capital Region have been arrested in the cases related to illegal
trafficking of narcotic drugs. Details of foreign nationals including those of
Nigerian origin apprehended in different areas of Delhi (Khanpur Extension,
Deoli, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli, Hauz Rani, Uttam Nagar and adjoining areas
in West Delhi), the narcotic drugs seized from them and the estimated value
thereof are given at Annexure A.
(d), (e) and (f): During the period from the year 2024 to 2026 (up to
30.06.2026), 103 foreign nationals were found residing in rented
accommodation without the mandatory tenant verification by their landlords.
Delhi Police has taken action against 63 landlords. Verification of tenants by
police, including those of foreign nationals residing in Delhi, is an ongoing
process and to maintain security and law enforcement in Delhi, it is carried
out by the Delhi Police on regular basis.
