GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2720 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 4TH AUGUST, 2026/ SHRAVANA 13, 1948 (SAKA) FUNCTIONING OF NATIONAL INTEGRATION COUNCIL (NIC) 2720. SHRI ASADUDDIN OWAISI: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether the National Integration Council (NIC), continues to exist as a consultative body under the Ministry; (b) the dates on which meetings of the NIC have been held since 2013; (c) if not, the reasons therefor; (d) whether any review has been undertaken regarding the role and relevance of the NIC in addressing issues of communal harmony and national integration; and (e) whether the Government proposes to reconstitute or convene meetings of the NIC, particularly in coordination with institutions such as NFCH and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI) (a) to (e) Meetings of the National Integration Council (NIC) are convened as per requirement and convenience. There is no specified time interval for convening meeting of the NIC. Issues of Communal Harmony and National Integration are addressed continuously by the Government. *****
