Parliament Question: Gram Udyog Vikas Yojana

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3363 TO BE ANSWERED ON 12.03.2026 GRAM UDYOG VIKAS YOJANA 3363. SHRI MADDILA GURUMOORTHY: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government proposes to include handmade jewellery and decorative items such as silver jewellery of Kutch, Dhokra of Bastar, Lac jewellery and Etikoppaka of Andhra Pradesh and terracotta jewellery made by Santhal women in Purulia as a distinct component/activity for employment generation under Gram Udyog Vikas Yojana and if so, the details thereof; and (b) whether steps are proposed to ensure market linkage and income sustainability for such artisans under the scheme and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a) & (b): Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), a statutory body under the Ministry is implementing Gramodyog Vikas Yojana (GVY) for the development of Village industries, in which training is being impartedand toolkits are provided to rural and traditional artisans under various verticals of village industries like Mineral Based Industry (MBI), Agro Based and Food Processing Industry (ABFPI),Wellness and Cosmetic Industry (WCI), Handmade Paper, Leather and Plastic Industry (HPLPI), Rural Engineering and New Technology Industry (RENTI) and Service Industry. At present, there is no specific proposal to include decorative items such as silver jewellery of Kutch, Dhokra of Bastar, Lac Jewellery and Etikoppaka of Andhra Pradesh and terracotta jewellery made by Santhal women in Purulia as a distinct component/activity under GVY. *****
