Will the Minister of STATISTICS AND PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION be
pleased to state:
(a) whether every Lok Sabha MP is given only Rs. five crore per year under
the Member of Parliament local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund
while in many States of the Country, every Member of Legislative Assembly
(MLA) is given an annual fund of Rs. five crore for development works and if
so, the details thereof;
(b) whether Government is aware of the disparity that on an average a Lok
Sabha Constituency has 6-7 Assembly Constituencies;
(c) whether the Government agree that the amount of MPLAD fund is
insufficient for development of such large Lok Sabha Constituency; and
(d) if so, whether there is any proposal under consideration of the
Government to increase the amount of MPLAD fund from Rs. 30 to Rs. 35
crore annually?

(MPLADS), each Hon’ble Member of Parliament is entitled for ₹ 5.00 crore
annually, irrespective of the number of Assembly Constituencies falling
within their Lok Sabha Constituency. Whereas the annual entitlement of
Members of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development Scheme
(MLALADS) may vary across States and is under the domain of respective
State/UT Government.
