ISSUE OF ISLANDER CARDS TO THE LEFTOUT GENUINE ISLANDERS
2617. SHRI BISHNU PADA RAY:
Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government received representation from the Member of
Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands vide Letter No. 10/MP-
ANI/2025/412 dated 31.10.2025, requesting a re-survey and issuance of
Islander Cards to the left-out genuine Islanders;
(b) if so, the action taken by the Government on the said representation;
(c) whether the Government proposes to conduct a fresh re-survey for
identification of the left-out genuine Islanders and issue Islander Cards to
all eligible persons; and
(d) if so, the details and timeline thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(SHRI NITYANAND RAI)
(a) to (d): The Union Territory Administration of Andaman and Nicobar
Islands has informed that a request for a re-survey and issuance of Islander
Cards to the left-out genuine Islanders, has been received from the Member
of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The issue has been dwelt on
by the Union Territory Administration. Even in the absence of Islander Cards,
genuine residents who are eligible on the basis of the prescribed criteria and
notified documents are provided benefits, like sea travel (inter-island and
mainland) fare concession, inter-island helicopter travel fare concession,
etc.
