GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4226 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 1ST APRIL, 2026/ CHAITRA 11, 1948 (SAKA) MODERNIZATION OF DELHI POLICE 4226 # SHRI NEERAJ SHEKHAR: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Delhi Police has taken any action to provide digital services to citizens; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Government is taking any step to modernize the police in Delhi; and (d) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI) (a) and (b): Delhi Police has taken various measures to provide digital services to citizens. Some of the important measures are at Annexure. (c) and (d): Modernization of Police forces is a continuous and ongoing process. The Government of India provides central assistance to States and Union Territories (UTs), for modernizing the police forces under the Scheme of ‘Assistance to States and UTs for Modernization of Police’. Under this Scheme, the States and UTs are provided central assistance for acquisition-2- R.S.US.Q.NO. 4226 FOR 01.04.2026 of advanced weaponry, all types of intelligence equipment including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Night Vision Devices (NVDs), CCTV surveillance systems and body worn camera systems; modern communication equipment and state-of-the-art equipment for security, training, forensic, cybercrime, traffic policing etc. In addition, Delhi Police also incurs expenditure on acquisition of physical and technical infrastructure for modernization of the police force out of the regular budget grant provided by the Government of India. ******-3- R.S.US.Q.NO. 4226 FOR 01.04.2026 Annexure Important Citizen Centric Digital Services by Delhi Police S.
