Parliament Question: Security of women and vulnerable sections in Delhi

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4220 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 1ST APRIL, 2026/ CHAITRA 11, 1948 (SAKA) SECURITY OF WOMEN AND VULNERABLE SECTIONS IN DELHI 4220 # DR. SANDEEP KUMAR PATHAK: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the number of registered cases of crimes against women, children and the elderly in Delhi during the last three years, year-wise; (b) the number of posts currently vacant in the Delhi Police against their total sanctioned strength, category-wise; (c) whether adequate staff, women help desks, cyber cell and modern resources are available in all police stations; and (d) the time-bound action plan of Government to strengthen law and order in the capital, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI NITYANAND RAI) (a): As reported by Delhi Police, the number of registered cases of crimes against women, children and the elderly during the last three years, are as under :- Year Crime against Crime against Crime against women children elderly person 2023 13,208 7,769 1,361 2024 13,195 7,636 1,267 2025 12,458 7,413 1,227-2- R.S.US.Q.NO. 4220 FOR 01.04.2026 (b): As on 12.03.2026, the number of vacant posts against the total sanctioned strength, category-wise, in Delhi Police are as under:- Category Sanctioned Strength Vacant Posts Constable to 96,817 13,958 Inspector level A.C.P. level 346 152 Additional D.C.P. 168 30 and above level Total 97,331 14,140 (c): Adequate staff, women help desks and modern resources are available in all police stations of Delhi. Further, Cyber Police Stations are functional in all 15 Police Districts of Delhi. (d): Delhi Police has taken several concrete measures to strengthen law and order in the capital, which inter-alia include, dynamic identification of crime- prone areas and deployment of police resources including pickets, foot patrolling, PCR Vans and Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) to enhance visibility and prevent crime; identification, surveillance and arrest of active criminals; integrated patrolling by local police, PCR staff and Traffic police; and community policing programmes. ******
