273. SHRI DURAI VAIKO:
Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that Tiruchirappalli International
Airport, which has recently been expanded with a new integrated terminal
building, is facing a shortage of CISF personnel, thereby affecting optimal
security coverage and passenger movement;
(b) whether the AAI or the Airport Director, Trichy, has submitted a
request to the Ministry of Home Affairs for augmentation of CISF
manpower in view of the terminal’s increased passenger-handling
capacity;
(c) if so, the details of the sanctioned strength and the present deployment
of CISF personnel at Trichy Airport;
(d) whether the Government proposes to approve and deploy additional
CISF personnel to meet the operational and security requirements of the
new terminal; and
(e) if so, the time by which the enhanced strength is likely to be
sanctioned and posted at Trichy Airport to ensure smooth and secure
functioning of all terminal operations?
