NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 23rd July, 2015
F. No. 1-5/2013-NDRF.— The Home Minister is pleased to institute an award to be conferred on members
of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to recognize their unblemished, selfless work and dedicated service
rendered by them during their tenure with the NDRF to be designated “Disaster Response Medal” and to make
ordain and establish the following statutes governing them which shall be deemed to have effect from the
publication of this Notification.
Firstly- The award shall be in the form of a Medal and styled and designated as the “Disaster Response
Medal” (hereinafter referred to as the medal).
Secondly- The medal shall be circular in shape made of bronze in 3.4 cms diameter dimension, blue
equilateral triangle on the body of the medal in 2 cms dimension in semi-circle just below the edge of medal and
rounded with equilateral triangle, Ribbon of blue and orange colour i.e. orange colour on both the sides and blue
colour in centre in horizontal form having 3.6 cms width and 6 cms length, horizontal with the inscription “Disaster
Response Medal” with decorative standard fitting and shall have embossed on the obverse a geographical outline of
the map of India with inscribed the words “आपदा मोचन पदक” and the words “Disaster Response Medal” in
semi-circular shape. On reverse it shall have embossed the State Emblem in the centre and circled by a decorative
wreath having 37 spokes placed on equal distance from each. The State emblem shall have inscribed the words
“,न ड(cid:11) आर एफ वाल(cid:17) के िलए” and the words “FOR NDRF PERSONNEL” in circular shape. A star on either
side shall separate the upper and lower semi-circles. The words “ स(cid:21)यमेव जयते” shall be embossed below the
National Emblem.
Thirdly- The medal shall be suspended from the left breast by a ribbon of 35 millimeters width. The ribbon

Fourthly- The medal shall be awarded to DG, NDRF on completion of six months service and other NDRF
officers/personnel on completion of three years of service.
Fifthly- The names of NDRF personnel who are awarded this medal shall be published in the Battalion
Routine Order/Service Order and a copy of it shall be kept in the service documents of the concerned person.
Sixthly- The Home Minister will be competent to cancel and annul the award of the above medal to any
person.
Seventhly- The Home Minister will be competent to make rules to carry out the purposes of these Statutes.
