अतः, अब, नाग(cid:18)रकता (नाग(cid:18)रक& का रिज+,ीकरण और रा/ीय पहचानप3& का जारी (cid:4)कया जाना) िनयम, 2003 के िनयम 4क के
उपिनयम (3) के उपबंध& के अनुसरण म9 तथा अिधसूचना संDयांक का.आ.2092(अ) तारीख 24 मई, 2018 को उन बात& के िसवाय अिधLांत
करते (ए, िज(cid:11)ह 9 ऐसे अिधLमण से पूवJ (cid:4)कया गया ह ै या करने का लोप (cid:4)कया गया है, नाग(cid:18)रक रिज+,ीकरण का महारिज+,ार अिधसूिचत
करता है (cid:4)क असम रा?य के संबंध म9 नाग(cid:18)रक& का रा/ीय रिज+टर 1951 अAतन करने से संबंिधत "गणन 31 (cid:4)दसंबर, 2018 को समाM होन े
वाली अविध के भीतर पूरा (cid:4)कया जाएगा ।

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 30th July, 2018
S.O. 3715(E).—WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 18 of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of
1955), the Central Government made the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules,
2003, which provides under sub-rule (3) of rule 4A that the Registrar General of Citizen Registration shall notify the period
and duration of the enumeration in the Official Gazette;
AND WHEREAS, the Central Government decided to update the National Register of Citizens, 1951 in the State
of Assam;
AND WHEREAS, the Registrar General of Citizen Registration has, vide notification number S.O.3591(E), dated the
6th December, 2013 notified that the enumeration in respect of the State of Assam shall take place from the date of
publication of that notification and be completed within a period of three years;
AND WHEREAS, in supersession of the said notification number S.O.3591(E), dated the 6th December, 2013, the
Registrar General of Citizen Registration vide notification number S.O.119(E), dated the 12th January, 2017, notified that
the enumeration in respect of the State of Assam shall be completed within the period ending on the 31st day of March,
2017; and the said date was extended for a period upto the 31st day of December, 2017 vide notification number S.O.
991(E), dated the 29th March, 2017; which was further extended for a period upto the 31st May, 2018 vide notification
number S.O. 3935(E), dated the 19th December, 2017; and the said date was again further extended for a period upto the
31st July, 2018 vide notification number S.O. 2092(E), dated the 24th May, 2018;
AND WHEREAS, the said enumeration in the State of Assam could not be completed within the period specified in
the said notifications;
AND WHEREAS, the Central Government has considered it necessary and expedient in the public interest to
complete the said enumeration in connection with the updation of the National Register of Citizens, 1951 by the 31st day of
December, 2018;
NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the provisions of sub-rule (3) of rule 4A of the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens
and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003 and in supersession of the notification number S.O. 2092(E), dated the
24th May, 2018, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Registrar General of
Citizen Registration, hereby, notifies that the enumeration in connection with the updation of the National Register of
Citizens, 1951, in respect of the State of Assam shall be completed within the period ending on the 31st day of December,
2018.
