NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 15th January, 2016
S.O. 149(E).—Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 11 of the National
Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government had, (cid:118)(cid:105)(cid:100)(cid:101)
notification number S. O. 952 (E) dated the 29th April, 2011, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II,
Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 29th April, 2011, notified the Court of the Chief Judge, City Sessions Court,
Calcutta as the Special Court for the purposes of sub-section (1) of Section 11 of the said Act having Jurisdiction
extending the State of West Bengal except the Districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Bihar for the trial of
schedule offences;
And whereas, Sri Asoke Kumar Mondal, Chief Judge, City Sessions Court, Calcutta, who was appointed as the Judge to
preside over the said Special Court (cid:118)(cid:100)(cid:105)(cid:101) notification number S. O. 1591 (E), dated 16th July, 2012 published in the
Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, sub-section (ii), dated the 16th July, 2012, has retired after attaining the
age of superannuation;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of Section 11 of the said Act and in supersession
of the notification number S. O. 1591 (E), dated the 16th July, 2012, except as regard to things done or omitted to be
done before such supersession, the Central Government, on the recommendation of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the
High Court of Calcutta, hereby appoints Smt. Surva Ghosh, Chief Judge, City Sessions Court, Calcutta as the Judge to
preside over the said Special Court.
