NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 16th May, 2017
S.O. 1575(E).—Whereas in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 11 of the National
Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government had, vide
notification number S.O. 2159(E), dated the 1st September 2010, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II,
Section 3, Sub-section (ii), notified the Court of District and Sessions Judge, Shimla as the Special Court for the purposes
of sub-section (1) of section 11 of the said Act having jurisdiction throughout the State of Himachal Pradesh for the trial
of Scheduled Offences;
And whereas, Shri Piar Singh Rana, District and Sessions Judge, who was appointed as the Judge to preside
over the said Special Court vide notification number S.O. 2780(E), dated the 23rd November, 2012, published in the
Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), has retired from service;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (3) of Section 11 of the said Act and in
supersession of the notification number S.O. 2780(E), dated the 23rd November, 2012, except as respects things done or
omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government, on the recommendation of the Hon’ble Chief
Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, hereby appoints Shri Virender Singh, District and Sessions
Judge, Shimla, as the Judge to preside over the said Special Court.

jurisdiction within the Districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Bihar of the State of West Bengal for the trial of
Scheduled Offences;
And whereas, Shri Ajay Kumar Das, Additional District and Sessions Judge, 1st Court, Siliguri, Darjeeling, who
was appointed as the Judge to preside over the said Special Court vide notification number S.O. 224(E), dated the
23rd January, 2017, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the
23rd January, 2017, has been transferred;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (3) of Section 11 of the said Act and in
supersession of the notification number S.O. 224(E), dated the 23rd January, 2017, except as respects things done or
omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government, on the recommendation of the Hon’ble Chief
Justice of the High Court of Calcutta, hereby appoints Shri Santanu Jha, Additional District and Sessions Judge,
2nd Court, Siliguri, Darjeeling, as the Judge to preside over the said Special Court.
