New Delhi, the 23rd January, 2017
S.O. 224(E).—Whereas in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 11 of the
National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central
Government had, vide notification number S.O. 951(E), dated the 29th April, 2011, published in the Gazette of
India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 29th April, 2011, notified the Court of the
Seniormost Additional District and Sessions Judge at Siliguri as the Special Court for the purposes of sub-
section (1) of section 11 of the said Act having jurisdiction within the Districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and
Cooch Bihar of the State West Bengal for the trial of Scheduled Offences
And whereas, Smt. Chandrani Mukherjee (Banerjee), Additional District and Sessions Judge, Siliguri,
Darjeeling, who was appointed as the Judge to preside over the said Special Court vide notification number
S.O. 3233(E), dated the 18th December, 2014, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II,
Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 18th December, 2014, has been transferred from Siliguri;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (3) of Section 11 of the said Act
and in supersession of the notification number S.O. 3233(E), dated the 18th December, 2014, except as
respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government, on the
recommendation of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Calcutta, hereby appoints Shri Ajay Kumar
Das, Additional District and Sessions Judge, 1st Court, Siliguri, Darjeeling as the Judge to preside over the
said Special Court.
