ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF MINORITY AFFAIRS
(SHRI KIREN RIJIJU)
(a) to (c) The details of the funds sanctioned, allocated, and disbursed under various
schemes of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) in the State of Kerala during the
last five financial years are as follows:
Begam Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship:
Financial Year No. of girls Scholarship

2021-22 54896 31.08As no grants have been sanctioned in the State of Kerala during the last five years, there are no
ongoing, pending, or halted projects. Also, no outstanding liabilities pertaining to the State of
Kerala exist during the said period.
As regards the Scholarship Scheme, all 54,896 scholarships sanctioned during the financial year
2021–22 were processed for disbursement. However, 36,612 scholarships could not be credited
to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts due to discrepancies in the beneficiary details.
(d) Following the decision to dissolve the Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), its
objectives relating to the development of educational infrastructure and skill development are
being addressed through various schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, including the
Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) and the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan
(PM VIKAS). While PMJVK primarily focuses on the development of infrastructure in
minority-concentrated areas, including educational and skill-development infrastructure, PM
VIKAS is aimed at promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, and livelihood opportunities
for persons belonging to minority communities.
