2. श्री लाल िी टंडन का िन् म 12 अप्रैल, 1935 को लखनऊ, उत्तरप्रििे में हुआ था। वह िो बार अथाात वर्ा 1978 से 1984
और वर्ा 1990 से 1996 तक, उत्तरप्रििे राज्य जवधान पररर्ि के सिस्ट् य रह।े वह वर्ा 1996 से 2009 के िौरान तीन बार
उत्तरप्रििे जवधान सभा के सिस्ट् य के रूप में जनवााजित हुए। श्री टंडन ने, उत्तर प्रििे सरकार में जवद्युत, िहरी जवकास और िलापूर्ता,
िहरी जवकास और िहरी गरीबी उपिमन, आवास, जवत्त, िहरी जवकास और पयाटन मंत्रालयों में कैजबनेट मंत्री के रूप में काया
दकया। वह वर् ा2003 से 2007 के िौरान, उत्तर प्रििे जवधान सभा में नेता प्रजतपक्ष रह।े वह 15वीं लोकसभा के जलए वर्ा 2009 म ें
संसि सिस्ट् य के रूप में जनवााजित हुए और उन् होंने संसिीय प्राक्कलन सजमजत एव ंरेलव ेसजमजत के सिस्ट् य के रूप में काया दकया।
3. श्री लाल िी टंडन दिनांक 23/08/2018 से 28/07/2019 तक जबहार के राज्य पाल के पि पर कायारत रहे। वह 29/07/2019
से मृत्यु पयान्त मध्य प्रििे के राज्य पाल के रूप में कायारत रहे ।
4. श्री टंडन ने उत्तर प्रििे के अवध क्षेत्र में, कई िैजक्षक, सामाजिक तथा सांस्ट् कृजतक संस्ट्थानों की स्ट् थापना की।
5. श्री लाल िी टंडन को समाि सेवा के क्षेत्र में उनके उल्लेखनीय कायों के जलए सिवै याि दकया िाएगा। वह एक प्रभावी
प्रिासक थे िो हमेिा लोक कल् याण को महत् व िते े थे। उनके जनधन से राष्ट र ने एक प्रजसद्ध रािनीजतज्ञ एव ं कुिल प्रिासक को खो
दिया ह।ै

OBITUARY
No.3/2/2020-Public.—The President of India has noted with deep regret, the sad demise of
Shri Lal Ji Tandon, Governor of Madhya Pradesh on July 21, 2020 at Lucknow.
2. Shri Lal Ji Tandon, was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 12th April 1935. He served as Member,
Uttar Pradesh State Legislative Council two times during 1978-1984 and 1990-1996. He was elected as Member of
Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly three times during 1996-2009. Shri Tandon as Cabinet Minister in the
Government of Uttar Pradesh held portfolios of Power, Urban Development & Water Supply, Urban Development
& Urban Poverty Alleviation, Housing Finance, Urban Development & Tourism. He was leader of opposition in
Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly during 2003-2007. He was elected as Member of Parliament for the
15th Lok Sabha in 2009 and served as Member of Parliamentary Committee on Estimates, and Committee on
Railways.
3. Shri Lal Ji Tandon remained Governor of Bihar from 23/08/2018 to 28/07/2019. He was Governor of Madhya
Pradesh from 29/07/2019 till his sad demise.
4. Shri Tandon established a number of Educational, Social and Cultural Institutions in Avadh in Uttar Pradesh.
5. Shri Lal Ji Tandon will be remembered for his appreciable accomplishments to serve the society. He was
effective administrator, who always gave importance to public welfare. In his passing away, the Nation has lost a
distinguished politician and an effective administrator.
6. Shri Lal Ji Tandon is survived by his wife, and three sons.
